well, I never meant this piece to get so outta hand! But it's always nice when a piece you don't care so much about turns out to be, well, something you care about The meaning is open to interpretation, I'd love to hear what you guys think of it.
I see this as a post-apocalyptic world, where humanity survives in futuristic yet highly populated cities surrounded constantly by powerful shields (the glowy laser thing in the top middle being the emitter) that keeps them protected from the wasteland outside. But that's just from first glance!
It looks like a cross between the worlds of two futuristic movies. The Fifth Element and Blade Runner to be exact. Excellent use of color and lighting on this piece and detail is off the scale, well done.
Amazing, just amazing...!(that goes for all of your pictures)
Hmmm... well considering the title this could either be the last bastion of humanity against some tyrannical foe or... that bright, flaming energy is some defense of last resort against total annihilation, I am not sure wich.
I LOVE how outta hand this piece is. There's so much going on that I could (and probably will, ultimately) look at it for hours and be inspired the whole time.
As for my interpretation, I don't really know. When I first saw that destructive, glowing business in the upper-right, I immediately thought of a meteor or comet being summoned out of space (like in Final Fantasy or Dungeons & Dragon), or held in precarious stasis, by magic. After reading other people's interpretations, though, I'm reverting to passed judgment on even defining it for now.
The distant and massive gears (along with the overall warmer color scheme of the whole piece) conjure associations with steam- and clock-punk settings (my preference being for the latter, though the two themes are known to collide); however, the brightness and profusion of the lights, as well as the height (and the smooth outlines of some) of the buildings inspires more futuristic assumptions, so maybe the distant gears are derelict remnants of an abandoned technology or forgotten civilization. Or maybe everything I'm seeing is powered by magic and this whole piece is indicative or a high-fantasy world.
Somebody's plugged in way too many energy consuming gadets inot one single wall socket and started a fire. And now the building's burning. And that lone guy at bottom centre is saying, 'i told you so' to the other guy to the right who plugged in several machines to download porn and caused the power overload.
I would like to invite you to submit some of your artwork to be featured in Snow Palette. Snow Palette is an online magazine for artists in communities such as DA. We want to reach out to artists all over the world and support their art.
OH MY GOD dude this looks just like the prothean city (ILOS) and that huge glowing ''machina'' looks like a mas relay from MASS EFFECT wow your work is amazing. its like if this was the last time you would see them right before the aftermath O_O you have and amazing imagination.wow did i sound nerdy lol xD dont get to much of those haha. epic, absolutly epic.
A futuristic civilization is either being attacked by some large thing or an asteroid is about to collide with their planet, off in the distance we see a giant laser generating device, the last hope for destroying the thing charging up as much energy as they can into it for the final blast.
Down below we can see a man walking along, the higher up people told everyone to pray and pay their last respects to each other in case this doesn't work and so he is walking out and contemplating life in the possibly final hours of his planet.
Everyone is trying to evacuate the premises via rocketship, but with that building exploding so near to it, it could render their last hope of survival helpless. There are quite a few who foresaw it and stayed behind. From what I could see, just four of them. All they could do before they go up in flames is watch the magnificent view, the bright and pretty lights of destruction. At least, three of them are. The other person seems to be trying to get to the one guy on the platform towards the foreground or seems to be walking away because he just doesn't care what happens.
At least, that's my interpretation of it.
It has a bit of a Star Wars feel to it. I can't remember the location of the Jedi temple that Mace Windu and the others gather at. Hmmm.....
Much as I try, I can't come up with an interpretation of this scene. There's so much going on... I'm amazed, I have to stare and pry and analyze out of sheer intrigue, but I feel like I'm looking at a movie poster for a flick I haven't seen yet... What's going on? What will happen? Will the planet be destroyed???
I have to agree with the few folks that already commented here. Its awesome. As usual, the detail, mood and color kills~
Not trying to sound pro (which i'm totally not), but i feel it lacks a bit of focus there. Could be the towers on the left fighting for attention? Maybe some roads, giant cables that powers the weapon can be added to direct the viewer's eye? Or turn off some of the lights? But still, this piece of work still rocks! Can't expect anything less from ya~
Not sure if i'm correct on this. Could be the coffee(s) i drank that screw up my mind... just trying to help.
