So last week I was re-reminded of the deadline for Spectrum 19, the next book containing the best in sci fi and fantasy art. Why not a good excuse to finish this piece!

Now, that is a very tough book to get into, and I've submitted before with no luck. But we artists have to strive to get better and better. Being in a phenomenal book like that doesn't make you great. Practice, determination, focus, and incredible amounts of hard work make you great...and in turn, give you a good shot in getting into a book like Spectrum.

And aside from the book, it was the actual deadline for submissions that encouraged me to finish this image this week! If I get in, awesome. If not, well, I finished yet another illustration
